The charger has a dual voltage transformer and is designed for either 115 or 230 vac. that is selected by a simple tap change. Temperature scale is displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. Because excessive heat and water loss are primary causes of battery failure, a remote sensing, external temperature probe is used to check the temperature, resulting in reduced maintenance and increased battery life.

If it rises above a set limit, output voltage is reduced or paused through over temperature protection control. The temperature probe length is 10 ft. with an optional 30 ft. probe. Voltage, current, temperature, and error numbers are displayed by 3-digit LED displays. All input/output connections are AAR standard binding post, enclosed in a protective hinged cover. The internal microprocessor monitors the charger and the battery and allows the charger to be programmed. All programmed information is maintained during a power failure in its memory capability. Data from the battery and charger can be collected at print intervals of 15 min. or 1 hr. The maximum amount of information available for 15 min. intervals is 4 days, or 16 days for 1 hr. intervals. To prevent unauthorized terminal entry into the charger program, a selectable password or code number must be entered by the operator.

Features:

  • Smart charger capable of self-diagnosis. It detects charger or battery problems and in remote locations that often lose power, for example, will count and display last power faults.
  • To eliminate blown fuses due to power up surges experienced my many chargers, the ERB-C charger has a 15-second delayed powere-up feature.
  • SCR regulation allows the charger to provide charge by voltage or selective current methods. Maximum current is programmable.
  • Sample and hold compensates output voltage for drops due to different cable lengths.
  • Remote voltage sensing increases accuracy of the battery voltage by eliminating the need to compensate for voltage drop in DC cables.
  • Selectable float voltage allows for programming of most battery types.
  • RS-232 Port allows operator to run, monitor, or program the charger from a terminal.
  • Can be connected to a modem that allows remote monitoring via phone lines.
  • All ERB-C chargers (except 12/20 & 5/5) come standard with battery sensing cable.
